Why do ion exchange resins for water treatment need to be treated before they are used?

  Why should water treatment ion exchange resins be treated before use? Because ion exchange resins often contain a small amount of low molecular weight polymers and monomers that are not involved in the polymerization. Therefore, when the new ion exchange resin contacts with water and acid, alkali and other solutions, these low molecular weight polymers and monomers will be transferred into the solution, affecting the quality of water treatment.

  In addition, due to packaging, transportation and other reasons, ion exchange resin may also contain a small amount of inorganic impurities (such as iron), so in the desalted water process with high water quality requirements, the new ion exchange resin usually needs to be treated before use. At the same time, the practice shows that the new ion exchange resin can also improve the "activation" and chemical stability of ion exchange resin in Sichuan.

  In the treatment of ion exchange resin for water treatment, the following points should be paid attention to:

  When the new resin is used as a small exchange bed, the above treatment can be carried out in an external anti-corrosion container. If it is a large switching bed, it should be carried out in the switching bed because of its large number.

  (2) The volume of the immersion solution should generally be twice that of the new resin, so that the resin can be fully immersed.

  (3) When the above treatment is carried out, the water and washing water used to prepare the soaking solution (such as NaCl solution, HCl solution, NaOH solution, etc.) should be clean, and generally desalted water (or H water, softened water, etc.) should be used. Do not use raw water to avoid polluting the resin. Especially anion resin, if raw water is used in the above treatment, it will harden the effluent for a long time.

  (4) If it is a small water-making equipment, the new resin can directly regenerate water without the above treatment. At this time, the resin is regenerated with twice the amount of regenerant (acid, alkali or salt), and the resin is fully cleaned with desalted water (or softening water).
